It’s the Democratic Primary. People are sitting in their seats swearing to themselves they’re going to ask for their money back as soon as someone unlocks the door.
Some of us were here from the beginning and many more have come in as they performance has continued. Now we’re all wondering when this show will finally […]

There’s So much out there. I’ve saved hundreds of links and will likely only get back to a handful of them as events move on. But the next few “Gossamer Strands” posts will help highlight some of them.

WHAT? No comments, but still they’re closed at this citizen’s journal following the Obama campaign. One that was […]
Though it seems a long time ago, the controversy over Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s “hateful” comments - as Jonathan Tobin in a Jewish Exponent editorial labeled them - started while Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton campaigned in Pennsylvania.
They’re still doing so, of course.
Two prominent Pennsylvania political leaders, Governor Ed Rendell and Rep. Allyson Schwartz (and more) have lent their high-profile support to Hillary Clinton. Most outside Penn and many inside the state probably didn’t know Rendell and Schwartz were Jewish, as well.
Further revelations such as its celebration of Hamas leaders and reprinting its manifesto also continue to come forward about Obama’s church. But 70 Jewish men and women have come forward, saying they don'’t believe Obama ascribes to any of those beliefs.
The actions of Barack Obama in recent days have clearly given Hillary Clinton new confidence - at least when it comes to the local bowling alley.
She hastily convened a brief press conference today to make a somber announcement.
“I want to take a moment to say that this has been a very hard fought race. Each of us is drawing enormous support we clearly need to do something so our party and people can make the right decision.
So I have a proposal today.
I am challenging Senator Obama to a bowl-off. A bowling night. Right here in Pennsylvania. Winner take all. I’ll even spot him two frames. It’s time for his campaign to get out of the gutter and allow all of the pins to be counted.”
C’mon that’s just funny.
Kudos to to Obama for bowling a few frames at Pleasant Valley Lanes with new supporter Sen. Bob Casey Jr. a couple of days ago, as well. Obama’s final total was 37.
That Saturday afternoon, Obama got off a few one-liners of his own.
“Let me tell you something,” Obama said the bowlers gathered. “My economic plan is better than my bowling.”
From all reports, a man standing nearby quickly responded, “It has to be.”
Later when Obama made a spare off the final pin he started chanting, “Yes I can. Yes I can.”
Sen. Hillary Clinton speaks at the University of Pennsylvania on the economy today. Exactly a week ago it was a major policy address about Iraq withdrawal.
Excerpt with full transcript following: “… You know, as the headlines of the past months have made clear, we are experiencing a crisis of confidence in our country. We have a crisis of confidence in our leadership with respect to Iraq and we have a crisis of confidence in our economy.
What started out as a subprime mortgage crisis has now become a national credit crisis, rippling out from banks and boardrooms to businesses and living rooms across America. We’ve had three straight months of private sector job losses. Consumer confidence is down and falling. The dollar has hit record lows and gas prices, record highs.
And last week, the Federal Reserve took unprecedented measures to rescue Wall Street, the likes of which we haven’t seen since the Great Depression.
These are not just red flags or warning signs. They are indisputable indicators that our economy is in serious trouble.
And now we face an urgent question: How do we keep today’s turmoil from spiraling into a long and painful recession? …”
(UPDATED 12:36 p.m.)
Barack Obama’s speech was given at the Constitution Center in Philadelphia today (Transcript below).
In the 40 minutes of delivery, what it contained was a recounting of his personal story, and a nod to the fact that race was not the only angle to being shut out in America. He spoke to what a […]
